Description: 

Job Summary:
 •Principal Technical Services Engineer, responsible for production and checking of design documentation.
•Material selection, specification and technical bid evaluation
•Preparation of procedures
•Attendance at technical studies.
•Attendance and sign off at FAT Testing of equipment as necessary
•Coordination of specialist testing and inspection at sub-contractors and vendors.
•Deliver equipment to specification, on time and to budget
•To provide technical support to ongoing projects within the oil, gas, LNG fields.

Key Aims and Objectives:
 •Provide company wide support on all aspects of materials engineering, including fabrication, welding, non-destructive testing, insulation materials and installation, corrosion protection and fireproofing.
•Provide best available technical/commercial solutions.
•Contribute to the efficiency of the project Team ensuring correct communication is conveyed to the correct function.
•Produce man-hour estimates against known scopes of work.
•Check vendor supplied documentation and monitor schedule progress.
•Production and checking of calculations, reports, data sheets and specifications.
•Production of equipment and man hour estimates as required.
•Ensure that all aspects of the design and engineering works are carried out in a diligent and professional manner.

Responsibilities and Duties:
 •All responsibilities and duties below shall be to the Key Aims & Objectives described above.
•Materials (metallic and non metallic) - provide input into the selection of materials, prepare detailed procurement specifications and assess suppliers
•Welding and fabrication specification development in line with Client and design code requirements
•Welding procedure - preparation, development, qualification & review in line with Client & design code requirements
•Welding consumables - selection, qualification & review in accordance with contract specifications and applicable international codes and standards
•Welder qualification programme development, witnessing and review of records
•Extent of inspection development
•Non destructive testing procedure development, qualification & review of results
•Insulation - preparation of detailed specifications and ancillary components, & preparation of installation procedures for insulation systems
•Coating Systems - preparation of detailed specifications for corrosion protection and passive fire protection coating systems
•Tolerance systems - specify global and detailed tolerance systems for fabrication and site installation / erection of tanks, vessels, pipework and structures
•Calibration - preparation of tank calibration specifications
•Hydraulic/Hydrostatic test procedures - preparation of detailed pressure test procedures for tanks, vessels and pipework in accordance with design code, client requirements
•Review drawings for ease of fabrication/constructability
•Interface with all other disciplines as needed
•Attend meetings as required both internally and externally
•Visit suppliers/subcontractors as needed for assessments, monitoring and troubleshooting
•Provide support for site activities including site visits as and when required.
•Continue development activities to ensure that existing skills are built upon, new skills are learnt and advantage is taken of the latest industry practices.

Educational Qualifications:
 •BSc in Mechanical Engineering, Welding, Metallurgy, Materials Science or similar is preferred, however an experienced candidate with HNC/HND level qualifications with a proven track record would be considered.

Desirable Qualifications (Additional):
 •European Welding Technologist/Engineer.
•CSWIP Welding Inspector Certificate.

Essential Experience and Training
 •Proven track record as a Senior Technical Services Engineer in the Oil Gas and Petrochemical industries, Cryogenic handling and storage experience an advantage
•A working knowledge based on previous experience, of codes, standards and accepted working practices with respect to Technical Services Engineering in the international Oil Gas and Petrochemical industries.

Skills
 •Good communicator at all levels with commercial and risk awareness.
•Must have leadership capability and good interpersonal and team building skills to support Engineering Division in co-ordinating and motivating contractors, partners, client and other personnel
